This might be a long shot but I am trying to trace a list of R/T and W/T procedures wireless operators used to use in Lancasters in1945, especially the codes like QDM, QFE. Anybody out there can help?

QFE is Height above sea level of your intended airstrip - FE is Field Elevation - important because you set your altimeter to Sea Level for general flying, but you need it to tell you how far above the ground you are when trying to land. The full list must be around somewhere.
Try Wikipedia under "Q Codes". It's got the list, the meanings and the history behind them.

Many, many thanks, Kempie. I have just printed out those which were used by wops in the RAF.
Hi Hugh, I realise you've already had your question answered, but I'm writing regarding another matter. I assume you were a WOP in the RAF, and also am assuming you are the same Hugh Spencer who replied on raf-lincolnshire.info regarding HCUs? My father, Paddy Roe , was a NAV with 9 Sqn on Lancs, and would have been at 1654HCU and 5LFS at about the same time as you. Dad passed away in 1991, but I've recently been doing a lot of research into his service history, and am hoping you may have some information or photos from 1944-45 that you would be willing to email on. It would be an amazing coincidence if you had known my father, although it is a remote chance given the number of people passing through the training units at that time. Dad was from Ireland, but settled in Australia, and I'm writing from Melbourne. I have a few photos of Dad's RAF service if you would like to see them also. I've searched for course and crew photos, but so far have not met with much success. I look forward to hearing from you. Kind regards, Stephen Roe (email [email protected]).
