Taking into account these examples and the recent calls for more ethnic minorities to be placed in positions of authority, would placing certain minorities in such positions be wise, seeing that we hear of many using their positions to their own advantage?

And before I hear cries of it is not only members of the ethnic minorities that can jump on the gravy train, that fact I realise, but it seems that most who come to this country (mainly from Nigeria) soon discover ways of ripping us off.

they know how to "rip us off" before they even come here, thats why loads of them do come here, because of how easy it is and what a soft touch we are.

they have been doing it for decades now
Yes, absolutely.

Both public and private sector employers should think very carefully about hiring Africans in general, and Nigerians in particular.

Companies who foolishly do take on people originally from Nigeria should also employ non-Nigerians to monitor their work closely, following them to the toilets (I hear they steal loo roll to be sold on to pensioners at extortionate rates), and occasionally shout at them 'DON'T DEFRAUD US...WE KNOW WHAT YOU'RE LIKE'.
does the word naive and blinkered mean anything at all to you ?....nah didnt think so, if someone told you the sun was hot if you touch it you probably wouldnt believe it

Would it not be extremely difficult to implement any kind of process whereby people from ethnic minorities were excluded from certain jobs simply based on their racial background?

If it were you, and you were interviewing people for a job, how would you handle the situation where you had a very well qualified Nigerian who was the best candidate?

Would you defer to the second best candidate to be safe?
Anotheoldgit are you able to substantiate the claim that more than 50% of immigrants "discover ways of ripping us off" or is it yet another baseless statement?

I am afraid that as in all cases the majority have to suffer for what we can only describe as the minority.

Just as Muslims are we hope more carefully checked, because of some of their fellow Muslims association with terrorism, then knowing of certain Nigerians association with crime, then they would be equally up for intense strict scrutiny.

/// Would you defer to the second best candidate to be safe? ///

One can never be too safe.
How is an employer or anyone else for that matter going to know if folk are Muslim or no?
AOG

But wouldn't a simple criminal record check surely be the best option during the recruitment process?

That way you exclude actual criminals as opposed to excluding well-qualified application who just happen to share a racial trait.

Er? By looking at the name on his application form, perhaps?

And you think that the authorities are in possession of the criminal records of incoming immigrants do you?
Does that then mean you can identify Roman Catholics or Protestants from their names too? Are you saying names can not cross religions? What religion would someone be if their first name wereTobias for example?

No because I have never stated that 50% of immigrants, 'discover ways of ripping us off', or is this accusation just another figment of your somewhat vivid imagination?

You said "most who come to this country (mainly from Nigeria) soon discover ways of ripping us off." What is "most" if not more than 50%?

AOG

Ah...so you're talking about recent immigrants, not people who are originally from Nigeria who have lived and worked in the UK for a number of years?

/// Does that then mean you can identify Roman Catholics or Protestants from their names too? ///

Not necessarily, but you asked how would anyone know they were Muslim, not anything about Roman Catholics or Protestants.

Aashif, Abdul, Kasam, Mohammed etc, etc, I think one could safely say that they would be Muslim.

/// You said "most who come to this country (mainly from Nigeria) soon discover ways of ripping us off." What is "most" if not more than 50%? ///

Yes quite correct, I said 'MOST' but I did not actually say 'MORE THAN 50%'.
dont know why you bother wasting your time with these people AOG , they will never see whats in front of their eyes in a million years.

all they do is twist and wriggle, distort etc etc, but the one thing you can be certain they wont do is see whats happening on their dorrstep.

it almost makes you think theyre happy seeing this country trashed
Anotheoldgit, if you Google the names you will see that Abdul and Aashif are also Hindu names so you are wrong again. As for the previous answer you gave, as only part of my question was in quotes that should have telt you I had not given a direct quote but I ask AGAIN, are you able to substantiate the claim that more than 50% of immigrants "discover ways of ripping us off" or is it yet another baseless statement?
AOG

'most' means 'greater than 50%'.

They're synonyms.

Getting back to your point about Muslims and Nigerians - you're now saying that they should undergo greater security checks...so does that mean that you don't have a problem with putting 'certain minorities' in positions of authority?

Surely if a company had performed due diligence, and as you have said, had intense security checks made on them, then there wouldn't be a problem surely?

You're not saying that these minorities should actually be barred from responsible/managerial/sensitive positions - just that they extra security checks should be made?

Am I understanding you correctly?
"Yes quite correct, I said 'MOST' but I did not actually say 'MORE THAN 50%'"

LOL. Presumably they didn't teach maths OR English when you were at school.
