I did start work on my family tree a few years ago, but I let things slide. Now I want to restart working on it again and I'm wondering what site, or sites, my fellow ABers would recommend. It would have to be able to access the 1911 census.

Many thanks.

lol OG I believe you. I also use Genes Reunited, purely as a tree builder, as I too find you get many contacts via that site. I wouldn't use them for research as I think they are a)not as good as ancestry, and b) are more expensive. It's less than £10 for a six month basic membership on GR so may be worthwhile just for the contacts.

You can now do that on Ancestry.com good luck
You can look at some of it on Ancestry.Com. I am still awaiting my relatives to appear, although I can see the search hits on 1911census.co.uk.

I use Ancestry for the data and GenesReunited where I seem to get more folk wanting to contact me.
i use genesreunited...works for me!
ancestry.co.uk.....................ancestry.c
om
is I believe the American site.
don't know what happened there ^
Ah quite so, but I think the .com will work too.

(Was distracted by TOH obviously ;-) Well that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.)

Thank you all for your replies.
Ancestry uk and Findmypast are both excellent sites. Also the free BMD sites which cover almost all counties in UK. Happy searching.

I pay monthly on Ancestry.co.uk because I cancel the subscription if I know I am going to be extra busy or on holiday.
When I know I am ready to get at it again I re join and carry on where I left off.. Not sure its the way Ancestry intend it used but so far it's worked for me.
