xbox fault

My grandsons xbox has an unusual fault not the normal 3 red lights, but will switch on & has a green light in the center of the on/off switch, it will not "pair" up to the controller and after 4 or 5 min' switches it's self off. Any help would be appreciated.

Look up Xbox 360 ring of death, its a hardware fault, each red section of the ring represents a different piece of the 360s hardware malfunctioning, ie, graphics controller, sound, picking up the controller for the console, if all else fails i would advise that you contact microsoft as a few of the first batches of xbox 360 consoles did get the red ring of death
