I've been thinking about this and if your choosing an option based on your mums concerns then neither makes any difference as its very difficult to screw up her pc simply by connecting your xbox through it. Personally i would go with the cable and this will give you a more stable connection than a wireless especially over that sort of distance.

The wireless adaptors are very good,we have one and it is very stable.They are quite expensive though as they have to be the official Xbox 360 ones to work.
