updating firmware on japanese psp

I have a japanese psp and I want to update the firmware ,I have been told that I need a japanese psp game to do this . Is this correct?If this is the case is there any recommended sites where I can get a game from.

I wouldn't know where to get a game from but you'd need a Japanese one.
With every new game that comes out for PSP they deal out the new system firmware too. Its quite useful really, but since your PSP is Japanese, you'd need a Japanese game.
