when discussing pharmacology people talk about half life. Ie the amount of time that passes before the blood level of a substance falls by half. How many half-lifes before a substance clears the body completely. ie total body clearance. I'm interested specifically in hypericin. found in St johns wort

How about an uneducated guess...total body clearance time is twice the half life. I am not being facetious because I do not know the answer. However I would have thought that life of it's "pharmacological activity" is the important factor as if it has a half life of so many hours, but is pharmacologically inactive, then "half life" is meaningless.
