I'm stuck on the second level of Alex Kidd in Miracle world on Sega Master system, any suggestions?

after you dive in the water, cant seem to find the way out?

This is a very hard game, I enjoyed it loads and felt a great sense of pride when I completed it.

If you are talking about the water bit, I seem to remember that there are short cuts though some of the water levels.

When you see the octopus thing you have to punch his tactical bit by bit. It's hard, but once you kill him you can warp though his pot thing.

My fave bit is the bubble-copter and the motor bike. These can cause massive frustration.

I completed this game many years ago (early 90's), and things are a bit vague. If your having trouble on the 2nd level, then I'd quit now as it gets a lot harder later on.
