I want to connect PS3 to Phillips Plasma TV (stated to be HD @ 1080) to play Blu-ray DVDs mainly.

TV is not HDMI but has DVI video input with associated phono input for sound.

Can I connect from PS3 via VGA to the DVI input on the television and get the sound, from the PS3, via the RED & WHITE phono leads (leaving the yellow video disconnected) from the AV output on the PS3?

Hi me again....thinking on since my last post I don't think using the RCA conector (yellow/white/red) or the VGA will work for any HD function .I don't think they are capable of carrying the data rates. I guess you could try
