my xbox 360 freezes when i turn it on any ideas

it freezes literally every time? how old is it?

The reason it freezes is because its made by Microsoft. Seriously though, if it freezes everytime and you do get the "Red lights of doom" then your console is overheating. make sure the vents are not blocked. Another problem could be it being knocked or dropped during transport in which case return for a new one. If all that fails it may just be a faulty console in which case phone Xbox helpline and ask for a new one.
