Inspired by the spout reserach below: we got a Bodum Teapot as a wedding present and I simply cannot seem to get the tea strong enough with it. I've tried swirling the pot but doesn't seem to help. They're a good idea as I HATE cleaning the pot after leaf tea but (mine anyway) it just doesn't seem to work! Anybody else got one and experienced the same thing?

Maybe the plastic infuser is conducting some of the heat away from the boiling water as it enters the infuser and makes contact with the tea. Does it help if you slowly pour boiling water directly in to the infuser rather than in to the teapot ? Incidently, as an aside, this is exactly how a miner's Davy lamp used to work - a grid with holes which conducts away the heat from explosive gases outside the lamp before it has chance to explode on meeting the flame inside.

anthomson: had to give you three stars for excellent top quality (and totally extraneous) Davy lamp info...! Will try the slow entry method...
