Using two six sided dice what are the odds or probability of the dice showing the same numbers For example both dice showing 3
I have ben told it is 35 to 1, but don't know if this is correct

The odds of a specific pair are 35 to 1 as you say.

The odds of any pair (ie two dice the same, you don't care what number) are 5 to 1
I agree with dzug, but it's sometimes easier to see the logic when it is explained in terms of probability. When two fair dice are thrown, there are 36 equally likely outcomes of which 6 are pairs. Hence the probability of a pair is 6/36 = 1/6.

In term of odds, this is 5 to 1 against.
