I enjoyed Forza 3 but not enough variety for my tastes. I do like a driving game as an occasional pick-up and play though.

I'm going to buy the wireless wheel/joypad thingy that comes out later this year as that could open up my enjoyment of these types of games.
Annoyed because it's not on pc platform...........

Forza 3 boasted loads on different on-line game modes (circuit, drag, demolition derby, cycled production, endurance, multi class, hill climb plus loads others) and an absolutely huge career mode.

Also in Forza 4 you can port over your profile so all those hours spent painting, tuning and buying cars in Forza 3 wont go to waste.

LOL Slack, worth investing in a 360!

Must admit I didn't take F3 online.
Maybe I'm missing something but I've never really understood why they release so many car packs. In my experience with games such as PGR it is clear which is the best car to be in meaning that most cars never get used as you are racing at a disadvantage.

triggs - do you own any driving games? it does take perserverance like fifa 11 ;-)

There are alot of, what they call Leaderboard cars in Forza that dominate the fastest lap boards. These are specific cars with specific tunes which no doubt exhange hands for large quantities of in-game credits.

Online theres a mode called cycled production whereby everyone uses a particular car with no upgrades. The combination of tracks/cars changes alot so theres no familarity. I find this a good place to start as it comes down to driving skill. Also this ensures everyone uses not just 'the best cars' Theres simply no competing with the Leaderboard cars unless they're being driven particularly badly!

I guess the release of car parts is simply a cash cow for the developers, much like extra levels in COD.

I remember the original Driver on the PS1. I recall it being the first ever true free-roaming game with proper 3d polygon graphics.
the new driver game is an abomination! you can move your consciousness to other drivers!! what were they thinking? the handling is pretty atrocious too. expect this to reach bargain bins very quickly.

The 1st driver game was amazing. It was the kind of game that I talked about as a teenager one day being possible.
Question Author
yes, the franchise sort of tailed off after the original. I dont think even Driver 2 did well.

I suppose by then the PS2 was pretty much out with the much superior GTA3 which took all the technological advances of Driver and upped the stakes with next-gen capabilities.

I still have Driver 3 on the old xbox and that wasnt very good. The combat/movement out the car element was awful. It was OK for a free roam and the checkpoint challenge sub games were OK.
