Morning, brain candy, what's occurring?
Question Author
Morning boxy,

The word "babes" is among nearly 2,000 new entries in the Oxford English Dictionary

Among the phrases that are being introduced are "brain candy" (entertainment that is undemanding) and "brain gym" (activity that stimulates the mind).
you ought to get at least one right on this from Chris, then, mick! http://www.theanswerb...uestion1028752-3.html
Good morning early people. =)

lol, that's where i got it from. I got 3/7 :0/

why wasn't, Lilly Allens wedding televised ?
Soz mick, I checked to see if you'd joined in that thread ;-(
I think it was just a private event?
language evolves, but some words, shouldn't be in any dictionary. Innit, that's just lazy.
Innit just?!
so "innit" is lazy but "isn't" is not?
morning all - looks like the start of a nice weekend - hope everyone has a good one.
Good morning everyone!
good morning sunbeams.[ anyone remember singing "Jesus wants me for a sunbeam" as a kid at Sunday school ? and you were made to go !].
Its overcast here innit ! how I hate that word along with starting a sentence with "basically" or "you know what I'm saying" dont suppose they teach proper English at state schools anymore., because I suspect that English is not the mother tongue of half of the pupils.
bit long winded to say is it not, so isn't it sounds a little better, but street slang like innit, get my proverbial goat. State education has a lot to answer for, and i have no idea why children leave school unable to read or write properly, with all the money that's been pumped into education, over these many years.
Dee Sa - I bridle when people say "obviously" when it's not obvious at all. There was a woman on the TV news saying "obviously, I (this and that)" - it wasn't obvious, we didn't know anything about her. Obviously, I'm a bit of a pedant....
Good Morning from "Brain Candy 2" to "Brain Candy 1", and everyone else here this morning.. I cannot remember ever not being able to read. I would not be able to function properly without this ability. I feel very sorry for anyone who can't do this. I don't know whether it is the teachers or the children. I suspect it is partially the lack of discipline and the fact that teachers and parents are not now able to even touch a chlld without screams of abuse being levelled at them. Children, on the whole, would rather play than learn so I think they either have to learn by playing or be made to learn and without discipline, how are you going to be able to do that?
For dee sa - but all join in if you know the words -

♫Jesus wants me for a sunbeam
To shine for him each day,
In every way trying to please him
At home. at school, at play.
A sunbeam, a sunbeam,
Jesus wants me for a sunbeam,
A sunbeam, a sunbeam
I'll be a sunbeam for him.♫

I hated Sunday School, but was made to go. Still remember it after all these years and am now a confirmed atheist.
