Cheese And Bacon Scones

Cheese and bacon scones are a delicious savoury snack. If you are an amature to baking, don’t be put off, scones are one of the easiest things to bake, once you have made a few batches you won’t even need to measure the ingredients, you will be able to guess quite accurately. This is a great recipe to start learning how to bake with, as there are so many delicious varieties of savoury and sweet scones, once you can make one type the rest will be easy to make.

Cheese and bacon is a perfect comforting combination and tastes delicious in a scone, perfect for a light lunch. If there are any leftover save them for tomorrows lunch at work or school, they will make a delicious change from sandwiches.

Ingredients

  • 200g self raising flour
  • Pinch of salt
  • 50g unsalted butter
  • 50g mature cheddar
  • 2 bacon rashers, cooked and chopped
  • 100ml milk

Method

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 200C.
  2. Rub together salt, butter and flour. Mix in the cheese and bacon.
  3. Pour in the milk to make soft dough.
  4. Turn on to a floured surface and knead very lightly.
  5. Divided the dough into 8 portions. With floured hands make flattened circle about 2 cm thick.
  6. Place on a greased baking sheet, brush the tops with a little milk and bake for 10-15 minutes until well risen and golden. Cool on a wire rack.
