Breaded Garlic Mushrooms

Breaded garlic mushrooms are an easy starter for a dinner party or ideal when you are putting on a buffet.  A bowl full of garlic mushrooms served with garlic mayonnaise is irresistible.

Tender mushrooms soaked in a buttery, garlicy juice coated in a crispy breadcrumb layer is a perfect combination of flavours and textures. This simple recipe is very easy to make so there is no need to cheat and by the frozen breaded mushrooms which will never taste as fresh.

Breaded garlic mushrooms are delicious and a great recipe to try out on children, although most children don’t often enjoy vegetables, breaded mushrooms goes down surprisingly well, they will be asking for more.

Ingredients

  • 400g button mushrooms, cleaned
  • 250g breadcrumbs
  • 100g flour
  • 100g butter
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 large egg

Method

  1. Add the garlic and butter to a sauce pan; melt the butter on a low heat.
  2. Take the butter off the heat and allow to cool for a few minutes.
  3. Dip the mushrooms into the butter, then flour, then egg and finally coat them with breadcrumbs.
  4. Preheat an oven to 180C and grease a baking tray.
  5. Bake for about 15 minutes until golden and mushrooms are tender.
  6. Serve with mayonnaise.
