I want to make homemade scampi but am swamped by the amount of recipes on the internet. Does anyone have their own recipe or tips that would help?

Thanks.

Making scampi at home will definitely be Home-Made! :-)
What is scampi?

I've just googled and in seconds read...langoustines (sp) Lobster...monk fish cheeks and king prawns..

None of those sound like anything you get in the pub or in the freezer section...
I thought scampi was prawns?

useful society - thanks!!
I thought scampi was reformed monkfish tail meat...
Proper scampi is lobster, but there are loads of regional varieties of it that use anything from prawns, shrimp and even cod!
Well the stuff you get in breadcrumbs doesn't look or taste like prawns.

I'm not high jacking the question shivvy...
It isn't. It's just the scrapings from the fishmonger's floor.
Here's a simple recipe with great reviews - http://tinyurl.com/4zzfps8
I thought it was lobster tails as well....

So what type of scampi do you plan on using shivvy?
''It's just the scrapings from the fishmonger's floor''

I doubt there's anything left on the floor after the fish fingers have been made...
SB - Used to be I think but now they are not allowed to call it scampi if it's the reformed stuff...I think that's what I read.
Some places do a nice "Surimi Prawn". I thought that sounded exotic until I found out what it was.
I've googled...what's in them SB??
Surimi is just a word meaning minced up fish (fins, scales, heads and all) Yummy.
SB, ground-up everything? That sounds like food for dogs and cats. Ewwwww
Thank gawd I'm vegetarian!
Fish heads are very popular in Thailand....I was sitting with a Thai man watching him scoff his fish head soup desperately trying not to gag..

Thanks for the link society but it is fried breaded or battered scampi that I am after.
I always thought that Scampi was prawns coated with a batter and then deep fried. However, I then was led to understand that pieces of monk fish were used for what one gets in restaurants.

It seems to be that I have been misled because of the following:-
