Where can I buy Carabineros - a very bright red (like a cooked lobster only darker) shrimp/prawn - in London. They are native to the Med and I have bought them in Spain and even in Switzerland. Have been unable to find them here - even going to Billingsgate. Would also like to find someone who sells Rascasse.

The kind folk at spanishhampers.co.uk say: Yes, a 'carabinero' is a large prawn... I would try the big food halls in London - Harrods, Selfridges etc They may sell them as 'giant prawns', as they are not well known by the name carabineros. A carabinero is also a customs policeman in Spain - avoid them. There are some traditional prawn recipes on http://www.spanishhampers.co.uk
Garcia's on Portobello Rd, west London get weekly imports direct from Spain - if they don't stock what you want, they may know someone who does: 248-250 Portobello Road, W11; tel: 020 7221 6119.
