I recently bought sainsbury chipshop curry sauce which was divine which i enjoyed to put on everything, this one.

It's now ran out and i couldn't help thinking these must be pretty easy to make but i don't know how or what to use as the base.

I have a cupboard filled with different Pataks curry pastes and i would like to make various flavoured curry sauces. Do any of you make your own curry sauces? Could you give me a recipe or direct me to a site which you'd recommend?

I'd google for a base curry sauce and change the ratio between tinned tomatoes and vegetable stock.

The type of curry sauce you put on chips etc seems to be alot more gravy based than tomato based. I'd go for 80% stock, 20% chopped tomatoes at first and thicken it up a bit with cornflour.
i'd look for a chinese curry sauce receipe

Love the fact that, on amazon, amongst all the curry sauces, is a Stain Devil to, you guessed it, remove curry stains. In the middle...not at the end.
For when I cannot be bothered to make my own I use the Mayflower Curry Sauce available in powder form from Farm Foods @ £2 for two tubs. Tastes just like the curry sauce from Chinese takeaways. Excellent value as each tub would allow you to make gallons. Cost works out at pennies per portion.
