Goose is lovely,Gordon Ramsey's recipe with Chinese five spice rubbed into the skin is delicious, and you get loads of fat for roasting the spuds. Not a huge amount of meat for your money though!

Rib of Beef on the Bone. Yummy!
I think if you get one of those three in one things you will have to make sure you either order it or buy it in advance. I tried to get one and they were sold out about a week before Christmas. Never tasted it but am intrigued at the thought.

I have decided to do goose. I did a trial run last week and can confirm that you don't get half as much meat as you would on a turkey but it is waaayyyy more tasty.

emmm interesting but what if there's just two of us, we're fatties plus we like some for supper will there be enough???
Oh yes for sure.
I asked for the smallest possible goose (which was approx 5kg) and we got 2 good dinners out of it (for 2). It would be tight if you planned to serve it up for a table of 6 or 8 on Christmas day though.
I plan to do a ham as well anyhow so that it will bulk it out a bit and still seem quite traditional.
