What quantity of this casinogenic material are we talking about?  A 50Kg bag, a container truck-load, a container ship-load??  If the stuff is so dangerous and illegal what was it doing anywhere near the food chain?

Well it's not THAT dangerous, but we have been told to just avoid it. They still don't have all the answers to how much of a problem it is.

Wot.............like cigarette smoke?..........Ye Gods.......mass panic all round.      So it'll turn up at the local boot sale or market stall then?
it really isnt that dangerous.  its a cancer suspect agent, but then a lot of things are.  its probably rather less dangerous than stilton cheese or barbecued food for example.
Casinogenic: sudan-1 turns you into a casino? Only kidding. As incitatus says, most things are toxic it is just to what degree. I suspect they use it in μg/mg quantities which they now have found is no longer acceptable by whatever test they use.
The Express reported that we would need to eat 2 tonnes of it every day for 6 months before we would develop cancer
The original batch was about 5 tonnes of dye.  The Telegraph said that humans would have to eat 2 tonnes of Worcester sauce every day for 2 years in order to get (as a proportion of bodyweight) the amount of sudan1 which was given to the rats in the experiments.
