I don't usually use Asda but I decided to give them a try for my monthly grocery order and have it delivered.

It was delivered 2½ hours late at 10.30pm instead of between the 6 and 8 pm slot.
When it arrived only one bottle of liquor was included ( I had ordered 4 ) and there was no paperwork to find out why or to check off the order.

My other observation concerning their goods which prompted my question was the quality of their own brand ' cod fillets in batter. ' . A better description would be batter fillets with a taste of cod. They were 80% batter and 20% of something which may have been fish.

They were on watchdog this week...
I wouldn't unless I have to.
Modeller maybe you should name and shame the store's area so other Ab'ers can avoid it like the plague, actually some Ab'ers were singing praises about the home delivery method the other day, just goes to show that if you want a job done properly you need to do it yourself. regarding the own brands yes they are usually inferior and i think were especially made for those on low incomes and on the dole so they will keep you from starving and bears a rough resemblance to its branded cousins but flavourwise is lacking.
Well Sainsburys and Tesco do a decent delivery.
ummmm yes, their delivery is good, but for Tesco value stuff - I'd agree with mickey.
I have never used home delivery, I was put off by my sisters complaints that they had forgotton half of the stuff (tesco)
As I am disabled and housebound most of the time I have tried Asda, Tesco and Sainsburys for home delivery and their own brands and think Asda are the worst. I don't usually have a problem with Tesco but my last delivery had 7 substitutions which I wasn't happy with. Sainsburys are slightly more expensive but never any problems and their own brands are much better. I will definitely be placing my Xmas order with Sainsburys as it is definitely much better quality.
Tesco are pretty good although they have cocked up a couple of times. And once I got a leg of lamb and a 4 pack of loo roll when I hadn't even ordered them. Free!!!
I wouldn't buy the value stuff from any supermarket.
Why are they so rubbish at getting the order right? You have a list, you pick the item and then you cross it off the list. Not exactly rocket science.
I've never ordered on-line - don't you get an option when you order to say "don't substitute if what I want isn't in stock"?
Ooh lucky you tigger. I have to have mine delivered as I can't get out unless someone takes me and as I don't like to keep asking this is the easy option. I have Tesco and up until now (fingers crossed) I have had no problem. I live in Bristol and can thoroughly recommend their deliveries, always well within the allotted time and the delivery men are so polite and patient. I promise you, I do not have shares in Tesco, although sometimes I wish I did! I have some of their Light Choices brand and they are fine.
Yes you do boxy and normally Tesco are pretty good but my last order I think the person doing my shopping must have been on roller skates and just grabbed the first thing he saw.
Maybe they employ the illiterate and those that can't speak any english, in which case they could have computer program that converts words into product pictures, that would work wouldn't it~?
Oh and just in case that idea takes off (©)
Micky, the people I see in the mornings collating delivery orders in Tesco have a computer attached to the trolley, they mark off the things on a palmtop thing as they take them off the shelves. I think literacy in English would have to be part of the job, otherwise everything would foul up.
^^but I like your idea of the picture book!
Dragons Den bekons!
"Hallo, my name is mickey and I have designed an international supermarket-ordering system for anyone lacking basic skills...." hmmm ;-)
I don't do online grocery shopping. ..so can't comment on that.
As for supermarket own...1-they are often comparable to well-known brands. 2-they are often made by the same companies. 3-enough comparisons have been done on TV and in the media with taste testing and comparison of nutritional value...often own brands have less salt and sugar.
Also-don't confuse 'own brand' with the stores 'value' range.
The best thing to do is always read the labels....yes-in a lot of things you get what you pay for-but often the differences are negligible.
