My friend is just back from Spain and was telling me that one day they had lunch but before ordering her and her husband were given what she thought and looked like was 2 large potato croquettes. However, when they bit in they found it was fish and said it was absolutely gorgeous. They then asked the waiter what the fish and he said it was crab - my friend said had she have known she would not have ate it but not knowing said it was absolutely lovely.

Anybody know if you could buy the like of the above here in the UK. Thanks for any answers.

'Croquetas' (including the crab ones) are available in most tapas bars but they don't seem to be sold in supermarkets.

Seafood croquettes are popular in much of Europe. I often eat prawn croquettes when I'm in Belgium, where they're served hot. However a Portuguese bar I use here in England serves them cold. Such delights aren't generally found in the UK. The only time I've seen seafood croquettes has been when Lidl has one of their occasional special seafood promotions.

If you want a recipe, just ask good old Aunty Beeb ;-)
