am temporarily laid up because of a broken ankle, so OH and I are doing the cooking together. OH loves being back in the kitchen. We thought we'd use the time to make a concerted effort to run down the freezer. Found some unidentified fish in there on Saturday and got it out to defrost, with the intention of doing a Jamie Oliver dish of white fish fillets wrapped in bacon. We had some rashers in the fridge anyway (that needed using up), so there was no big shopping expedition. Even when the fish was defrosted, we couldn't work out what it was. Anyway, we cooked the dish as per the recipe (other than we used the fillet whole rather than cut it into pieces (and halved the quants because there are only 2 of us). Anyway, we took one bite of the fish and realised it was smoked haddock. Not quite right with thebacon rashers, because they made the fish even saltier! Still at least we used the fish and bacon up! We;re going to use the left over pan fried smoked haddock in a kedgereee later in the week!
