Are the new low oil fryers as good as the makers claim and are the worth the money? (£170 upwards)
I have read conflicting reports on these and as I am contemplating getting one I would appreciate any comments from users

I paid just over £100 for mine in Costco and I'm very pleased with the results .It takes aprox 35 mins to cook but only uses 3/4 tbl spoon of oil for 2 people for chips. Preparation is a bit time consuming as the potatoes have to be washed and then dried thoroughly before cooking and for me that means drying each one individually. The chips taste great though and I don't feel too guilty eating them as so little oil is involved.

Thanks for your comments, I hadn't thought about food preparation times and I think this will be a no no for me - I live on my own I am in my eighties and am severely disabled and can't stand to prepare food. I have started to cheat using frozen veg and use the slow cooker alot but am getting a tad fed up with the seemingly endless beef casserole chicken chasseur and pork in cider which made me think low oil frying - I can't lift the normal 2-3 ltre ones
Sonyme sorry to hear that i a sure that the tefal actifry will be of use,i think that what coriander is on about, its not only chips they can do its chops and other recipes

Thanks poodicat the Actifry was one that I was considering but after reading user comments about blowing up, handle falling off and poor service from Tefal have decided against. I am now looking at Scotts of Stow model but can't find any user comments yrt.
I use a Rotofry which uses half the amount of fat as the bowl is tilted so they half fry and half steam. You just chop the potatoes and chuck them in, very easy and perfect chips within 15 minutes. Had mine for a few years and no broken parts yet. Think it was about £70 from Argos
