if you live near a home bakery they should sell you it-from their own supply
Tesco do it in the fresh cream area.
WTF's a home bakery? And ""from their own supply?"" are we talking about buttermilk or drugs?
Agree, Tesco have it, also Waitrose. Alternative would be natural yoghurt mixed with a little milk. Great for soda bread and scones.
Morrisons also sell buttermilk
Sainsburys sell it, next to the cream.
sasha, do you live in England or Ireland?? In Ireland it can be bought almost anywhere. But if you wanted it to use in baking - such as mentioned before, i.e., making soda bread, just let your ordinary milk go off for a day or so! If it is for soda bread making, you can use ordinary milk anyhow and I've even mixed it with a little yoghurt to obtain the same results!

hi beauj--for drinking ( ice cold -luverly)-stuff from the home bakery the best
beejay, are you juming threads also kid?? For me, I'd drink buttermilk till it came out me ears. Unfortunately the stuff you get now is all watery! Best buttermilk I've ever had in me life was in Omagh! Very thick & creamy!
our wee home bakery here sells it out-just take a empty milk container in
beejay, give us the name / address of yer wee home bakery and I'll be there in a shot if it's that SO good! Share with your mates here! Don't keep all that info to yersel.
any home bakery would do it (would they not-maybe not) beauj
ask and see
Well I will, but your giving me a cop out here kid! Maybe my nearest 'Home Bakery' out-let, only sells the end product and does not bake in-house! Which, in fact, is the case here in A/town!
oh ok beauj
dont know belshaft that well- any wee independant ones about
Ok Thanks Beejay, I'll ***** - sorry I meant to say tour the City till I find one!! Maybe if you got some yerself and soaked your big toe in it, it would help ya! Eh? Failing that, sure I'd always dig that nail out for you!
To make a subsitute for buttermilk, suitable for use in recipes, add about a tbs of lemon juice to a glass of milk and stir. Within a few minutes the milk should start to thicken.
