Hi Can anyone tell me is white vinegar the same as white win vinegar?

'White' vinegar is actually clear, white wine vinegar is actually made from white wine and tastes different, as does cider vinegar.
''White wine vinegar'' is made from wine. White vinegar needs another word to say what it's made from, e.g. ''White malt vinegar''. Traditionally, ''white vinegar'' was also the term used for the chip shop vinegar which is actually acetic acid distilled from the likes of North Sea oil. Many people still refer to this as ''white vinegar'', but regulations these days insist that it be referred to as ''non-brewed condiment'' instead

Thank you both. I suppose then the white vinegar is the one for cleaning and not the white wine version
Yes, the synthetic "non-brewed condiment" has many useful cleaning uses, also removes rust. Cider vinegar by the way has good health properties. Sir Ranulph Fiennes swears by it mixed with honey to alleviate his arthritis.
