Lots of reasons:

- some people don't drink / won't drink if they are in the car
- some people drive to the pub then leave their car there
- some people go for a meal and not for a drink
etc
Not everyone who goes to the pub drinks alcohol.
staff might want somewhere to park their cars
The taxi driver has to turn around somewhere...........

looks like ive stirred the pro drink&drive lobby

is it only me that thinks public transport or shanks pony are prefered methods of getting to the pub.

so if car parks are only used by pub workers and non drinkers, why is there a lot of alcohol served instead of non alcohol drinks??
it is like asking, why do they make ashtrays??!!!
they are for the people who don't smoke , don't drink who sit in the pub and eat peanuts

::::::::::::::::: :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
4 people in one car...................1 person (driver) not drinking.........................3 people are.
so how much more alcohol rather than non-alcohol is sold?..............
Lets look at that again?
3 people against one person...........................ermmmmmm
thet could be 4 people eating peanuts

::::::::::::::::: :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
And besides...................people are a lot lazier these days than they used to be. Who walks nowadays?
Do pubs make more profit selling peanuts than booze?
I wonder......................
urine soaked peanuts...
That's a strange pub you go to there cazz...........
It is not illegal to drink and drive.

It is illegal to drive after having consumed more than the prescribed limit of alcohol.

looks like the non drinkers have been busy today. ive spent more than 30 years in pubs, and lost count of how many stagger out to the car park.
seems like too many people think the world is full of law abiding citizens.
if the police were to visit a pub carpark on a sat nite, theyd have a field day
I drink and drive - it's not illegal. Being over the limit is and that's a different story. I know my limit and don't exceed it, and I am not walking or bussing home after one pint.

Better question would be why do shops open 24 hours have locks on the doors.......

excuse me 4 being ignorant postdog. but what happens when we drink, even only 1 pint, we relax. driving any vehicle requires total concentration, think about it
Most pubs that have car parks were built many years before it was illegal to drink and drive. Indeed, very many of them will have been built when horses and carts were the preferred means of transport.

You may think that they could be built on, but many developers will be very wary of building places right next to pubs because lots of people won't buy them because they think there will be late night noise.

There's no reason to draw the conclusion that, because somebody has a car in a pub car park, they're drinking. Just because some do is no reason to suggest that everybody is.
perhaps its all a conspiracy to annoy the likes of you.....you peanut!

This guy obviously knows better than the police & government...
People who drink and drive would still do so even if the car parks were removed,they would just park on the street somewhere nearby. Maybe the pubs should just stop selling alcohol and then you would be happy???
