Hi there I wonder if anyone could help with a recipe for sweet tomato and chilli chutney and also spicy onion chutney. I have some of these from Waitrose, and its yummy, but would like to make my own if possible. I have googled, but not found anything that sounds similar to the one I have,( made by Provender ) Many thanks in advance.

We enjoy this recipe. You could add a chilli pepper to this recipe which might give the desired result, adding it with the pureed mix.
Sweet Tomato Chutney
1 kg tomatoes.
350 ml red wine vinegar
350 gms sugar
1 whole head of garlic
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1tsp ground ginger
1t sp salt
4 oz raisins- more can be added if wished, they plump up and taste delicious
Method. Skin the tomatoes and put in a pan with about 275 ml of vinegar, plus the sugar. Add the remaining ingredients except the raisins , to a blender and puree. Add to the pan, and cook to thicken, stir from time to time A few mins before the end of cooking time stir in the raisins. Put in sterilised jars. This chutney can be used once it has cooled. Enjoy
