Churchill would not have stood for any of the current camaignes, nor do i think would Thatcher. I may be wrong but I believe Howard made the comment before he lost the election.
As to whether a Scot, expat or not, has a right to express an opinion - nationality is no barrier to good or bad ideas, so I judge the policy by its content and practicability, not by who said it or why. I suspect that Mr Howard's comments re Christianity might hold more water if more of the "Christians" turned up in church each Sunday rather than conformed to a mere superstitious desire to be married (when they bother) and have their children christened, in church. On the basis of what percentage of adherents attend daily/ weekly services, I would hazard a guess that there is more Muslim religious observance in this country than Christian.

Even if there were more muslims than christians does not mean that the muslims should have the upper hand in this country. I would hazard a guess that the majority of people in this country do not practise any religion at all. I am sick to death of all this appeasement. I do not wish muslims any harm (well apart from the likes of Hamza and his cohorts) but the sooner someone has the guts to stand up to them the better. I would welcome a leader like this. Indeed I would.
It doesn't really matter if John Howard was in power or not, when he made the comments, the point is, he's voiced aloud what immigrants should do, and how to behave.

Can you prove its all fairy tails? No you can't.
It gives some clarity to right and wrong for many people and wether or not it can be proved it also gives peace of mind.

Before you all get your panties in a bunch debating the shorcomings of the alleged author/speaker of this passage, it's been around since at least 2005 and been attributed variously to open letters to Aussie papers, yada yada yada......(you get the drift) Wouldn't you better putting your considerable intellectual capacities to debating the merits (or otherwise) of the sentiments contained therein?
