I have hired a cake tin for making a number 1 shape cake. The assistant was very unhelpful when I asked for advice regarding quantities of cake mixture. Anyone got any ideas? Ta

How big is the tin ??
Question Author
Its about 30cm long by 10cm wide by 13cm deep but obviously not an even shape!
I would say this should be about right:
400grms sr flour
200grms marg
200grms caster sugar
4 eggs
60 mls milk
pinch salt

cream sugar and marg, add eggs and milk and flour
cook on 180c for about 30 minutes.
Make sure you grease the tin !

Thanks, I will let you know
Oh god, I'm senile. I looked at the wrong page. That was for a fruit cake duh.........
Right, here goes !!!

175g sr flour
200g caster sugar
100g marg
2 eggs
pinch salt
8 tablespoons milk

sorry about that....I hope you hadn't got it all weighed out lol
ps: if you don't add 25g of cocoa, use 200g of flour
You could fill it with water and then pour the water into your usual cake tin to see how it compares.
