In Mexico dairy products are listed as having a kcal amount of 42kcals. How do I know how many calories I am eating?

Kcals is calories so if you're eating 42kcals, you're eating 42 calories

Are you sure?
Isn't kcal an abbreviation for kilocalorie, i.e. 1 kcal = 1000 calories?

a kilocalorie is exactly the same as a calorie - calorie is an abbreviation. Trust me ;0). If it is any different, I have been eating in excess of 1,000,000 calories a day for years, I would be dead by now - haha.
