I'm not a really a sweet eater but when I was shopping there were some on the rack at the check out , so had no idea as to what they cost . So has the price of ingredients gone up ? or a captive audience ?

Sweets are now really expensive, I can't believe it! Food generally is cheaper than ever. But these days if you want one bar of choccy or something from the newsagent it will cost you nearly 50p. I remember not so long ago, Mars was 32p so you could buy 2 items for your 50p. Does anyone else remember what sweets used to cost?
I remember a time when a mars bar was 15p.
I remember mars being 8p and we only got 5p so could only get a mix up! Oh we were poor in the seventies. Saying that some sweets were 3 for a penny or half pence each, and you got 5p when you took a ******** pop bottle back!
those stars blocked out a brand of pop out! Lowc*cks! I feel ancient now and I'm only 38
I didnt think they had gone up more than inflation. It seems beer goes up far quicker but that's probably not true either. They do seem to have starting increasing the price in bigger steps though. I know what you mean about 50p, it does seem quite a high price!
Should be glad we dont live in france. The price of a bar there is about 75p. Italy seemed more expensive than england too i think, and considering that average incomes/prices are significantly lower...
