mints describe themself as cool but they taste hot in your mouth, well the stronger ones anyways.....

the sugar free ones always taste cold to me.
always cold , and my son says the same (so must be right !!!)
Eat a handful of the strong ones and then drink a glass of cold water, that should tel you the answer.

I think it depends how much menthol is in the 'mint' in the product.
Just checked, it is the menthol. Menthol has a similar effect to the capsaicin found in chilli peppers although the product is essentially �cool� that rapidly changes when consumed.

You will notice this particularly if you suck on a Fisherman�s Friend. So to speak.
