I remember really enjoying eggs as a kid - runny ones especially. But they don't seem to taste of much these days - does anyone else think this too? I've tried to find nice tasting one - I always buy free range - but none have stood out especially. Any recommendations? Dying to really enjoyed poached eggs again...

Try buying some at your local farm/farmers market - very fresh and very tasty- even better than free range from the shops! The eggs from my local farm are nearly always double yolk aswell which is a bonus!

Or maybe try duck eggs as they have a very strong 'eggy' flavour!
Goofy, free range don't taste any different, the difference is that the hens get to move around they are not confined to a "battery" cage.

Eggs today have a rich deep golden yolk to make them look more appetising but that is just an additive to hen food which turns the yolks to that colour.

REAL eggs have a yolk that is VERY pale in colour and if you can find these you will regain the taste that you remember.

I'm lucky I live near a real farm otherwise I would stop eating eggs altogether, the ones in supermarkets, free range or not arn't worth a penny each.
i buy free range organic eggs, and they taste eggy to me, they do have a bit of a weird texture if you are trying to beat them though, don't know why!

I agree with the previous posters - if you can buy them from a farm you will probably like them better.

I could be wrong, but I believe that the taste of the egg is determined by what the chicken eats before laying them.
Try free range organic eggs, they are delicious, you won't find better
If you are able to get to a farm buy them there also you should be able to see the birds running around and having a dirt bath !! The yolks will be sunshine yellow if they are corn fed , will take longer to cook as will be really fresh . Nice dippy egg with soldiers , can't beat it !!
