I would say boiling is the only option, as all other methods would render the egg unfit for purpose, surely ?
( Try and picture a scrambled, poached or fried egg rolling ! )

Or am I not on the same wavelength as the rest of you ?

Hard-boiled eggs are typically boiled for 10-18 minutes, depending on the size of the egg.

At Easter in the United Kingdom, some people roll hard-boiled (and usually painted) eggs down steep hills. Like the American version, this is primarily a childrens' activity, though it is not usually an organised event. Each child will paint an egg before going to the hill (perhaps as part of an after-lunch walk) and a winner is typically nominated based on which egg gets furthest before breaking up. There may also be some kind of competition for the best-decorated egg.

That is what my children will be doing with the egg, so yes i did assume boiling would be a good option!! I have now been told boiling the egg in white vinegar will help!
Vinegar just stops the egg leaking out if the shell cracks while it's boiling - it solidifies the white so it looks a bit like a poached egg.
We always use Cadbury's creme eggs - and you have to eat them afterwards even if the foil falls off!
