How about sausage, mash and baked beans or other veg which he likes
he's 4.....

try and get him eating brocolli !!

try and get some little new potatoes, peas carrots brocolli high quality grilled sausages, grill and or boil everything and if he likes ketchup, give him that instead of gravy

not the best healthy dinner, but its got a load of vitamins and its better than a mcdonalds!!!
Chicken - pound it thin before cooking so it is easier for him/her to manage - and super quick for you to cook.
Rice
Broccoli or Peas or Salad or Carrots - whatever the favorite is.
Fresh fruit for dessert.
yeah, thin chicken would be better than sausage,

i was thinking steak, but i dont think that'd be a good idea for a 4yr old!!!

you could try making homemade breaded chicken strips,

dip chicken into flour then egg&milk then breadcrumbs, then grill,

works well and served with potatoes and a few veg, wouldnt be too time consuming??, actually, thinking about it.. im gonna have that for tea too...

Sair - I just had another thought - when I have chicken and rice, I like to serve frozen mixed vegetables - all you have to do is put them in a microwave container with a few spoons of water and cover them with Saran Wrap and cook them to the level you/they like - it doesn't take long, because they are cut into small pieces - I like them with a little crunch left in them - and I find that most children like those too.
you have a 4 year old child and you dont know what to make for dinner is this a joke ?or have i missed something and this is not a regular thing you do if so im sorry .
Cheesy Jacket potato with chopped ham, baked beans and sweetcorn or minty peas.

Thank you for all your suggestions.

Crete, of course I know how to cook for him but sometimes being a working single parent , it is helpful to get some different ideas off other people.

I usually give him the same old shepherds pie, spag bol, mince & veg, sausage casserole or fish fingers & peas! Never really do chicken apart from Sunday's but I like the breaded chicken idea. Thank you.
