Storing cucumber - skins going slimy

My 3 "Mini" cucumber plants have been producing cucumbers faster than we can eat them. I'm picking them when they're 6 inches long when they're at their best and storing them in the salad container in the fridge. However, after several days the skins start going slimy.
Any idea how I can prevent this? I've tried storing them in a brown paper bag in the body of the fridge which helps but doesn't prevent the problem longer term. (We want to continue eating them raw, not pickled).

Hi Wendy,

I do know that if you put the cut end of a cucumber in a tumbler/glass of water (just enough to cover that end), place in fridge, it does keep the cu from going off so quickly!
Have been doing this for some time now, especially when not using cu all the time.

Hope that someone else knows the answer though to whole cucumbers...

wrap them tightly in clig film works... thats what we do at work (i work in a kitchen by the way)
