Hi, when I was in Spain last year i had these biscuit/cake type of things called palmeritas. they were sort of like puff pastry shapes with sugar on top then cooked so all the sugar caramelises and goes a bit hard. they are best things ever!! anyone know where I can get some? except spain. thanks, Rachel.

Hi rachel79,

Palmeras are sold in majority of bakers, and in in-store bakery of your leading supermarkets. M & S (in-store bakery) also do them - very good too. Sometimes called "pig's ears", for obvious reasons!

Made some myself once, quite fiddly as you have to keep folding the pastry over (two diff methods - tried both).
