Why are the barcodes on CocaCola bottles surrounded by a dotted line which indicates you should cut it out of the label, and some text inside it saying '75ml bottle coke' etc ?

Proof of purchase? Have you noticed a similar thing inside the spine of cardboard DVD cases?

I guess it's because that's more proof that you purchased an item and used it than a receip[t where you could have purchase dhte itme and not used it or even returned it.
