Yes, 1959, 47 years old, a magnum, has been laying on its side for all that time in a cool place.

Is it likely to be superb, indifferent, or rubbish ?

Under no circumstances open the champagne, send it to me and I will dispose of it safely.
I believe 1959 was a vintage year so it should still be ok, especially as magnums mature slower and keep better than regular sized bottles. But as already pointed out MetC isn't the best champagne producer, just one of the more well-known ones!!! Do let us know how it tastes if you open it!
By the way it will also depend on your tastes! Personally I find Moet quite sharp so would never class MetC as "superb"!!!!
Could be ok if the cork's wet ... but it's not one of the best makes to start with.
If it's vinegary ... use it as a white wine vinegar ... nice
