...Does anyone remember way back in the 60's when you could but Paynes Poppets from vending machines on railway stations platforms?

They were in a little red box & cost sixpence (6d).

I hadn't seen them for years, but picked up a DVD from blockbusters last week for our Granchildren & there they were on the shelf (the Poppets not the Grandchildren). Same box but much more expensive of course.

I remember those as well Smudge. They were chocolate covered toffee were'nt they? Thats reminded me of the Wrigleys Gum vending machines (they were always really rusty), they've all disappeared off the face of the earth.

Yes, they're little round chocolate covered toffees!

I also bought some of the mint ones which are much softer & very, very moorish!

Good timing sithlord - nearly word for word there too!

Oh yes, Wrigley's Chewing Gum too.

I even remember being out on a date with my then boyfriend (now husband), we were walking along a high street in Brockley at 02:00 in the morning & I was really thirsty. He popped a 6d in a machine & out popped a carton of ice cold milk!

Those were the days!
