Take one lime and cut into quarters. Place in a rocks glass and add three heaped teaspoons of sugar. Brown sugar will probably give you the most authentic flavour as taste wise it is most like the sugar found in Brazil.

Muddle until all the lime juice has been extracted from the hulls. Fill the glass with crushed ice and pour around two ounces (approx 60ml) of vodka over the top.

Place a spoon in the glass and put a napkin over the top and stir well.

Thats pretty much the way it is served in most cocktail bars in Britain anyway. Try using flavoured vodkas for an interesting twist.
