Why did they stop making pacer mints, the green and white striped chewy mint, similar to starbursts?

they were fed up with everyone's white polo necks turning stripey green!! shame tho, i loved them as a kid!!

. . . . . and why did they change the name from opal mints to pacers? well before opal fruits went to starburst?
