Not being one to shy away from trying out new food, I have tried various things over the years, which include:

  • Deep fried stick insect

  • Deep fried Cockroach

  • Frogs legs

  • Sheeps eye

  • Ostrich

  • Crocodile

  • Snake

  • Chicken neck

What have you tried? Did you like it? What would you *like* to try?

Cow's tongue, chicken feet, tripe. yum!!

Well, I won't be kissing either of you! LOL!

Since my idea of 'exotic' food is chicken chop suey, the weirdest thing I;ve ever had is squid, which i waqs not aware I was eating, and didn;t really enjoy.

There are lots of things I'd like to try - but none of them involve food!

While in China and Hong Kong in the 70s, among other things, probably the strangest, but nice and crunchy, was sugared Beetle, it was coated like sugared Almond, and cooked in grated coconut over an open fire.
Bat. Ok but I'm glad I didn't know what it was when I ate it!
In Malay cookery there is an ingredient called blacan (pronounced 'blachan'). It is a fermented prawn paste and tastes and smells exactly as you would expect!!
Dak -- you should be on "I;m a celeb -------
Pot noodle
Honey bee larva. It's quite creamy.
I ate a live raw snail once..but I was only three so I cant remember the taste. The grossest thing ive eaten has to be jelly fish - its cold and hard and crackly. Yuk. Here in Japan I can eat many many weird things. Cows bowel lining was interesting and Natto (fermented sticky soy beans) are certainly an aquired taste.
2 Blinkin' stars....Traitor!

Come on Snappy!!! There must be SOMETHING you've eaten that you wouldn't have everyday? You'll get 3 stars!!! :D

I've eaten a hairy clam! Does that count?

My brother spent 3 years travelling around the world.

When he got to Thailand, there was a street seller on the corner selling delicious chicken kebabs - or so he thought. When he met his (now) wife - A Very successful businesswoman in Thailand, he thought he would treat her to a rustic treat and took her there. She declined - She said she would never eat roasted rats!!!
As it turned out they were!

Thailand was where I tried the chicken neck. We had decided to hire a jeep for the day and go driving around the countryside and it was a brilliant day! When we were driving back to where we were staying we were both a little peckish and soon came across those set ups at the side of the road with a big hand painted signed "Chicken" - just the ticket we thought. Because were were in quite a rural area they didn't speak much English, and although I know a little Thai I didn't know it well enough to hold a conversation so it was just series of pointing. We got back to the car and took the chicken out of the bag to find I had chicken neck and he had a chicken foot (!!!). We decided we might as well try it so long as it was there for the taking - the future wasn't bright and orange :(

The sheeps eye was the worst though, it's way to early in the morning to tell you about that though!

A Czech soup called Drtkova. It tasted quite nice until my host remembered the English word "tripe"....... just before I got to the lumps at the bottom!

deep fried locust in a batter coating !! ,they were quite boring , they were very expensive and my advice would be not to order them from the menu.

A jelly baby and baked bean sandwich in a primary school cooking lesson. My friend designed it especially.

It actually worked quite well, but i was the only one brave enough to eat it.

Oh, and i used to have a habit of eating wood lice when i was little apparently. Our house used to be full of them. Mum had to prize them out of my hand. Can't remember what they tasted like, although i imagine rather crunchy!
