Just been watching Countryfile on telly and they advertised a group called Black Girls Hike. Surely this is a racist organisation just like Black Lives Matter.
Can you just image the reaction if someone set up organisations called White Girls Hike or White Lives Matter.

Will there be any repercussions about this? I very much doubt it. Why not? It is discriminatory on the grounds of colour.

What do you think?

Personally I don't care what colour a person is as I believe it is how they are as a person but by calling groups black this and black that they promoting racism which they are supposed to be arguing against.

Thanks Mamy. Will have a go later. Busy doing something just caught that bit of telly and it made me a bit angry.
For a good few years there has been a push to increase the number of Black and Asian people into the British countryside as they were so underrepresented.

Here we have some women who have responded to that.
What are the aims of the group?
//About
Founded in 2019, Black Girls Hike provides a safe space for Black women to explore the outdoors. Challenging the status quo, and encouraging Black women to reconnect with nature, we host nationwide group hikes, outdoor activity days and training events.//
To provide a safe space for black women to hike
Don’t have an issue with it tbh, for how many years were blacks banned from joining white only clubs and schools etc
Lady J; get a grip. It sounds like a simple take on a well-known phrase; surely it's not meant to be some serious assault on white identity? I didn't see it, so correct me if I'm wrong.
I can't see a single thing wrong with it and if it encourages women to get out and about and exercise and explore that can only be for the good.

Because before that, black women have never been safe to explore the peak district??
Do you object to black girls hiking? I think you sound a bit over-sensitive.
Sounds ok to me. Nothing wrong with getting people out and about in areas they may not be familiar with.
Is it not safe then for them to go hiking with White people? I thought 'integration' was being encouraged. Can white girls not join this group?
Ask them Andres.
I was aware there is a lack of black folk walking out and about. I wasn't sure if L-J knew the purpose behind the group or whether it was only a reaction to its name.
I don’t quite get why you find ‘Black Girls Hike’ offensive? And worthy of a thread.
Do you think black girls shouldn’t hike?
Do you think it will put off white girls from hiking?
Will the wildlife be irritated by their rap music.
