I know that we will get the normal "school rules" response here on AB, but I think it looks rather neat and tidy.
Compare this with what I looked like at his age !

I agree with you nice and neat .my granddaughte rs ex school and grandsons school is like that school, they seem to be more worried about uniform etc than teaching (her class sat an exam and the questioned asked hadn't been taught )also some of the teachers could set an example .

People's appearance should be their own affair. We pay taxes to have our children educated not to have teachers highhanded wasting their time implementing pointless rules instead of doing their jobs. It;s a shame most schools don't put as much effort into addressing bullying as they do into picking on people who disobey their often draconian uniform policy which in itself can be a form of bullying- no wonder then that often their pupils learn by example and emulate unpleasant and controlling behaviour.
I can only comment on the school guidelines of those attended by my own children and now my grandchildren - this style would be outside their rules.
If this school did not give clear guidance then the lad and his mother have a grievance - if guidelines were clear then they haven't.
Both daughters were sent home at various times for so called extreme styles/colours.
