I don't think so as it's the deep frying that puffs them up. You can buy them already cooked
We spray them with a little oil, and zap them.
I am sure you can shallow fry them in a frying pan - ?
You can buy them ready cooked in Tescos, Sainsburys and Co-Op, a pkt of 8 is about £1.50, Sharwoods or own brand are very good and it saves time and the bother of frying them, less mess etc. http://www.sharwoods.com/range/indian/breads-and-poppadoms/8-plain-poppadoms
Yes microwave them :)
I agree with sp 48.
I never fry them. I rub or spray them with a little oil and put them under a medium hot grill. Watch them like a hawk and flip when the start to puff. once flipped. allow them to puff completely.
Grill without oil or toaster if they fit

thanks everyone
As Chelle7272 says, they cook remarkably well in a microwave. (Indeed, some now have microwaving given as the preferred method of cooking on the packets).
Mine have always turned out rather well in a microwave :-)
