Put this in CB to get a bit more coverage. My Wife has Arthritis in one knee. Someone told her a while back if she put a bar of soap in the bed it would help relieve it.
She has been doing this for a couple of months now and swears it is helping. I've googled it and it appears to be genuine.
Only problem is when the soap falls out of the bed and hits the floor with a bang, I shoot upright going "What the feck was that?"
Seriously has anyone else come across this idea?

I can see it now ... Baldric flat on his back on the floor, when he's slipped on the soap. The dog sat on his chest. The Mrs sat up in bed .. her tights stuffed with cabbage. Dont worry paramedics have seen it all !

I really did mean to put 'arthritis' in the title (hangs head in shame)
Never heard of it before - however my opinion is always that if it helps then keep doing it.

Wonder what the interaction is supposed to be?
I've been musing on this for a bit too, Mamya. If it's true, I wish I'd known when both parents were alive, especially Dad. I can't think which ingredient would work, though?

She certainly seems to sleep better since trying it and there are less 'Oohs and Aahs' when getting up in the morning so it seems to be positive!
Just Googled it and soap appears to contain coconut oil. I've seen it recommended for no end of ailments.
Baldric, maybe your wife could try cooking or baking with coconut oil and see if it makes a difference? Holland & Barrett do a selection of 'set' ones, which are lovely if a bit pricey. I buy mine during the Penny Sale.

She can't abide Coconut in cooking in any form, but as she's not eating it there might be some truth in it, it's possible.
Sounds like an old wives tale, but if it works........
CB is the correct place for this.
have heard it is good for night cramps..
I'm guessing sqad is sceptical
Nevertheless I shall pass this on to mum
Any soap?
Just pop it in the bed?

When I was little i used to put christmas soaps in my knicker draw - wrapper off of course
I can't think of any reason why this should work, but I wear a copper bracelet, and that appears to work as well !
Perhaps there are some coconut oil based creams, that she could rub into the effected areas ?
Sounds like the placebo effect to me. If you believe it works, it will work. Whatever, it's good that your wife has some relief.
Same with copper bracelets, and magnetic ones; there is no scientific reason why they should work, but if they do then Great!
Baldric, can't you put a mat or towel on the floor so the soap doesn't make a banging noise when it falls?
Balders.....WD40 rubbed into the joint has been known to relieve pain of arthritis....keep a can by the bed ....many uses:-)
Well....it might stop those joints from squeaking I suppose !
Tell your good lady to try a cabbage leaf on her knee under a bandage, or tights might keep it in place,.good luck .

Buy soap on a rope and safety pin it to the sheets ;-)

BIOFREEZE IS GOOD BALDRIC at a price £10 - now you can get a bit tub of deep freeze in Poundland too - make sure it is the big tub and not the toothpastey one, Masage knees two to make sure every night - it may help . good luck. The only thing it messes the bed a litle - but so what. put a towel under the knees to catch the drips.
