I had a major allergic reaction to my first few days of juicing - is this normal to start with?  Swelling, red patches and major itching! Head to foot!!!  I only put together apples, oranges, plums and limes!!  Has anyone else experienced this?  Also I had major sugar rushes from the fruits!  Any tips would be much appreciated!!  Many thanks

juicing shouldn't give you an allergic reaction unless you juice something that you are allergic to.

I like juices cut with water, fizzy or still and this might help with the sugar rush thing.

Carrot and or cucumber make a good neutralish base which can also help to cut the sugar total. Cucumber and green grape is good.

If you "drink with your eyes" then don't mix green things and red things, the resultant juice might be tasty but it will look yucky.

A piece of frsh ginger juiced with the other ingredients will add a kick to the drink. Add it mid way as you juice to get maximum flavour.

Try savoury juices too like celery, cucumber and green pepper with a little salt stirred in if you wish.

My husband eats loads of apples with no symptoms but if we juice apples he gets a severe asthma type reaction if he is anywhere in the house.  He can however drink the resultant juice with no side effects.

Therefore I think that juicing fruit must release chemicals that eating the fruit doesn't so you will need to try each one separately to identify which is the problem before you carry on juicing.

Good luck

sounds like its inhaled particles that cause the problem
It maybe seems a bit obvious, but always make sure that you wash your fruit thoroughly before using. I also heard somewhere - can't remember where - that unless your ingredients are organic, it is better for you to peel the skins first.  I don't, but my system may not be as sensitive as yours. Good Luck
